Very awesome! I love watching the evolution of it - seeing it come together must be cool for you too. This is a neat piece. I like how the buildings bend as one would expect them too in that age - some artists forget that bit. Does it have a back story? How do you find the motivation to keep going? That's the part of complexity I tend to have trouble with. Do you do in all in one go, or at times? What sort of art-maker do you use? Pardon all the questions :)

Thank you:) It doesn't have a back story. My motivation is that I love what I do, but when I don't have motivation I don't force it and I just go and do something else. I usually work on paintings at least on 2-3 different days, so I can look at them with fresh eyes. I use photoshop with a tablet.

It is so wonderful that you have done this! I love the insight into your work process!
May I ask though, do you hand-paint everything yourself, or do you use textures, like for the windows and doors?

Thank you:) I don't use any textures. I try to imitate the traditional painting workflow as much as I can with a tablet (except from the use of layers).

Thank you for semi-teaching us how you did it! The process is fantastic. I wonder...how many layers did you use for this?

Woah! That's impressive! It's amazing how you keep track of them all. I thought that maybe perhaps you use one or two. But wow.

Thank you! Usually I use only a few layers but at this case I wasn't sure what I was going to paint exactly so it was good that I had the option to go easily back and forth by using a new layer for each element:)

Yeah? Still. That's amazing. :) You mentioned you weren't sure of what you were going to paint, so I take it you used no references whatsoever? Not even one tiny one for a window or something of that sort?

Thanks:) I did a bit of research on far eastern architecture but haven't copied anything from photos if that is what you mean by using references.

Gawd. Then you should also do designs for movie sets, as well. Especially, if you can make up locations just like that in your head. :)

This shows how much work and steps are involved in the process. In ways its discouraging, but also helps me realize most artwork starts off looking like crappy shapes and scribbles hehe. With enough work and determination it finally comes together :)

Sadly I don't have an ipad or the money to buy one, but the concept looks great! This one has a very nice atmosphere and all the details are simply amazing.
