The first thing that I can observe is the composition: The man on the foreground caught my attention leading me to the village following the road. The village reads well from the bottom to the top allowing me to reach the sky part and therefore the mountains leading to the right side of the painting and coming back to the starting point. I find that this painting read almost perfectly.
The atmosphere and the mood you created is very particular: It's peacefull yet transmitting life and movement, like a glimpse of a magic moment that has been caught forever in a paint, a very solid contrast.
The color scheme here is playing an important role: I find that for the atmosphere you chose it's a good combination between the soft warm of the light and the deep green of the rest. The only thing i can point out is that in some parts the green seems oversaturated just little bit(Like on the right side).
I love the fact that the whole painting can be the focal point(of course not in pure terms of perspective) cause there is so much going on that even if your eyes are caught by the sun behind the mountains you can't help but going back to observe the village or the people making everything pointing at that subject for just a moment.
Overall this paint gives me so many emotions even after first read that I could sat down and write a tale about it. Amazing Job!
It has an incredible atmosphere, masterfully done lighting and composition and while it does not tell a story by itself, it's such a realistic piece that you can already hear the sound of the crickets and frogs that would inhabit such place.
My only nitpick is that the style used in the foreground is much more painterly than the one used in the far background, near the sun, and the artificiality of the background kind of pulls me away from the immersion.
However this is only a nitpick and the piece is masterfully done, with very effective composition, mood and lighting.
