There are many good things I can say about this painting: The golden-leaved tree works out really well to balance the composition of the image. There is a lot of depth in the scene, even coming close to the viewpoint with the close-up fences. The flying creatures add motion and life to the scene while giving substance to the void that is the sky. All of the colors across the image complement each other very well. The house is beautifully designed and the dragon roof is *awesome*.

Without the dragon roof this could be perceived as a realistic or a fantasy environment (since the flying creatures' identity isn't very obvious), but the dragon roof provides a clear fantasy theme that is consistent with the entire image.

I have only one complaint: I think such a detailed and grand building design deserves a more fancy foundation than the simple pier style. I think an enclosed foundation, for example, would match the overall building design better. Here is a draft of how I envision the house: dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32… I can easily see, however, how others might prefer the pier foundation.
